I guess the disentegration does look kinda like Thanos, but this opening had me worried a bit, even with all the critical acclaim I heard it got. The cinematography and effects here started to remind me more of The Mummy Tom Cruise movie than a Mission: Impossible film. I feel like you could have filmed or done the effects on a scene like this better. Gratefully, we woke up from the dream or something, because this opening scene was really only good partially from a dramatic standpoint rather than a visual standpoint. Visually, I didn't think it looked all that good. I guess it's just me. Actually just like me, which is purely just my own opinion unless it's shared, I thought this movie, lik the oeriginal Indy movies had better stunts and practical effects than they did visual or composited ones. On par with the originals is probably Crystal Skull today, which kinda did the exact same quality of a job (hate all you want when I say this) in terms of effects and stunts, in my own opinion, which makes that movie I think have a different problem than people claim in some respects. Only, they are forced to use more effects than stunts in that one, and that's why it didn't quite work at all. That's probably the only thing that's similar, because I always felt they struggled in the vfx department and excelled in the stunts. They did about as good a job with vfx as the previous ones, only it works even less because they blew up the amount of things they decided to use on effects to create it. #nobodyneededmonkeysoraliens. Or, I don't know, you could have worked with aliens in some way, but don't visually create them for us to see. This series was never about aliens before, so I don't know why we should have expected a good design from it, now that I think on it. The ship looked better than the aliens, just because the alien's design was already so boring, it was more interesting not to see them than see that weird generic cartoonish alien. Anyways, thoughts on this movie are actually pretty similar for the most part to the original Indy movies in terms of how well the vfx vs the stunts are done.
This should have been the opening scene that leads into the titles! With the theme kicking in at 0:50. The whole opening scene they had was just too confusing.
Lmao what!?!? Hell no! The opening scene was perfect! Lol you gotta be really stupid to get confused by the intro. Sorry you’re small brain couldn’t handle it.
@@nandoman4769 Jesus, take a deep breath and calm down man. It was just too much story and too many locations to be an effective opening. Compare with other MI films.
I'm giving a shoutout to the composer, Lorne Balfe who did an excellent job at immediately setting a vulnerable tone for that scene.
After watching His Dark Materials I became such a fan of his work. 💕
It is a masterpiece!
It is
C'mon Thanos...not Ethan Hunt too!!!

One of the best movies ever
When I heard Lane’s voice I was like ohhhhh shiiiiiiiiit
This is absolutely an allegory for Tom Cruise's marriage to Katie Holmes and connection to Scientology.
Joseph Seed gets them married and Nukes em into Far Cry New Dawn. So it wasn’t Scientology he got into it was Edens Gate.
is it me or that guy look like jacob seed form far cry 5
Where is this location? I’m
Trying to get married here.
Preikestolen, Norway.

@F. BERTAGNE i thought it was Thanos
Think it's Milford Sound New Zealand, I was just there it's amazing
This particular scene was filmed at Milford Sound, NZ. Some later scenes in Fallout were filmed in Norway.
